Mission Impossible

Today I’ve been looking at random things I should really accomplish at some point in my life. Over the years i have built up a pretty solid list of goals and achievements, that if I don’t reach I’ll be pretty gutted. So today i decided that i need a focus, something to do, and I’m going to try achieve a new random thing every 6 months so that i build up an array of skills, and hopefully have a laugh while doing it.

After a bit of digging around the web, i happened across a celebrity website. It happens sometimes… I got myself thinking about acting, and how it must be pretty cool to be an actor, and have all the adulation, money, girls, etc. But, I’m too old to start as an actor, OK I’m not ancient (a respectable 27 if you must know), but in actor terms I’m over the hill.

Then i thought, what else is there…i could be a stuntman? An Evil Knievel style loose cannon that throws himself off of building, through glass, and rolls around on fire. I quickly reminded myself that I’m a wuss, so that too was out of the window (no pun intended).

What about a director? Could i be the next Ridley Scott? Steven Spielberg? Peter Jackson? well, maybe ten years ago, but now the problem is YouTube. Anyone can be a ‘director’ because of that, and I’ve seen how little talent the majority of people have, so in a way i have gained respect for real directors, who manage tons of staff, actors, grips and all that jazz.

So i can’t be an actor, stuntman or a director, i certainly can’t be a tech guy as i don’t have time for training (I’m making this a six month effort for the sake of entertainment), so i thought: “what do other people who can’t act do?” then it hit me… I’ll be an Extra. Yes!

So my plan has begun, my mission is to somehow make my way on to a TV show or film (a real one not some shitty student number, but independant is ok) in the next six months. Its a noble casue, that i reckon is plausible, as well as my usual blog posts I’ll keep any one who reads this blog updated with my success, failures and anything else that happens.

Wish me luck. I think I’ll need it!
